Arsenal boss Unai Emery joins race for Celtic ace and makes him summer transfer target | Football | Sport

The Gunners are targeting three signings this summer with left-back one area to improve.

Tierney, 21, has been identified as an ideal acquisition by Emery, according to the Mirror.

Leicester are also interested as they realise they will face a fight to keep Ben Chilwell this summer.

Manchester City are circling and ready to test the resolve of the Foxes with the long-term future of Benjamin Mendy in doubt at the Etihad.

The France international has suffered multiple injuries since making the switch from Monaco back in the summer of 2017.

Leicester were already interested in Tierney before Brendan Rodgers left Celtic to become their new manager.

But it could now harder to secure a deal because of the backlash the former Liverpool boss has received for quitting the Scottish champions.

That means Arsenal would be the current favourites to secure any deal for Tierney.

The left-back is contracted until 2023 and would command a big fee for Celtic to sell this summer.

Arsenal’s current options at left-back are Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac but neither man has been convincing or stayed injury-free under Emery.

Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in Tierney with a £25million fee touted.

The youngster has made 35 appearances for Celtic in all competitions this season.

Celtic return to action against Dundee on Sunday as they look to close in on another Scottish Premier League title.

Arsenal face off against Rennes in the Europa League tonight.

Gunners fans will be watching the performance of whoever starts at left-back with the interest in Tierney coming to light.
