And fans from promotion chasers Leeds United and Norwich City were going ballistic on social media.
United were heading top of the league after three goals from Billy Sharp.
But once the striker was subbed off the game turned.
Villa hit back with three goals within the last 15 minutes of the game.
And it means the Blades failed to move top of the table.
Fans of United’s promotion rivals were to say the least delighted.
“GET IN VILLA #lufc” one Leeds fan tweeted.
“UP THE VILLA,” another Whites supporter wrote.
And a third wrote: “Get in villa. The championship is by far the most entertaining league this year! #lufc”
Canaries fans were just as delighted.
One put: “Coming back from 3-0 down? No big deal, Villa. Standard practice at Carrow Road #avfc #ncfc”
Another said: “We are top of the league!!!!…..f*** off Sheff Utd….f*** off Wilder…..thankyou Aston Villa !!!!!!”
And a third put: “Thank you Villa! Never thought I would celebrate a Villa goal….. We are top of the league!”
Sharp was rightly handed the man-of-the-match award at full time but the striker was far from pleased.
“I can’t quite believe it at the minute, 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go, we’ve got to do better, we’ve got to see the game out,” he said.
“We’re trying to win the promotion and these are the games when you get in front, you’ve got to win the game.
“If we’d have got three points, it would’ve been a great night.
“It took the shine off my hat-trick, I’d have rather have not scored and got the three points to go top.”
Villa’s Abraham said: “I can hardly even hear myself right now.
“Being 3-0 down against a top side, we just kept our heads, we kept going and we got the three goals.
“We knew the game was never over even at 3-0. We’ve got a fantastic team and we kept going until the last minute.”
