The Spaniard was brought into the Tottenham team to replace Harry Kane, who it out until March with an injury picked up against Manchester United.
And it only took Llorente 17 minutes to find the net, but unfortunately for him it was his own one.
Llorente was caught flat footed in his own six yard box and diverted a Jean Michael Seri cross beyond Huge Florist to open the scoring.
Gary Lineker tweeted: “With Kane injured, it didn’t take long for Llorente to show that he can score goals….sadly at the wrong end.”
A Fulham fan tweeted: “Proper centre-forward’s finish from Llorente there #FULTOT #COYW”
Another Twitter user wrote: “Unreal banter from everyone pointing out Llorente is meant to score at the other end.’
And another said: “Dunno what Spurs fans were worried about, Llorente more than a good enough replacement for Kane, fantastic finish that was. #FULTOT”
BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas said on BBC Five Live: “Llorente’s got no pressure on him, nobody forcing him to make that mistake.
“Spurs needed something to wake them up anyway, in all honesty. It was all a bit too relaxed and a bit too ‘let’s just knock it around’.
“Fulham came to life before them and they’ve got the rewards for that. They’ve had the better chances, they’ve been more ‘at it’ and thoroughly deserve the 1-0 lead.”
Tottenham are looking to extend their lead over Chelsea in third place after their defeat to Arsenal last night but got off to the worst possible start.
