Irish football fans have had their say after the Republic found out who they will face in the qualifiers for Euro 2020.
The draw for the qualifying rounds of the 2020 European football championship were held at the Convention Centre in Dublin this morning.
Mick McCarthy’s men face tricky ties against Nations League finalists Switzerland and Denmark, with Georgia and Gibraltar rounding out Group D.
Switzerland, the current top ranked side in Europe, are the top seed in the group while Ireland will be well aware of the dangers Denmark pose, with the two teams facing each other four times within the past 13 months.

It could have been far worse for McCarthy, however, as Ireland were initially drawn in Group C alongside the Netherlands and Germany, but were moved to Group D due to the UEFA draw rules which stat that no more than two host national sides could be placed in the same group.
The qualifying campaign will get underway with two matches in March, before another two fixtures are arranged for early June, following the end of most European domestic seasons.
There has been a varied reaction to the group from Irish fans, with some fans feeling that we’ve been handed a handy route to the finals while others are more doubtful of our chances of getting out of the group.

Can we just skip to the distopian future where international football is abolished and only three fixtures are permitted:
Denmark vs Ireland
Bosnia vs Greece
Montenegro vs England#euro2020

If Denmark win our group and Wales qualify or get a play-off in theirs, are we then guaranteed a play-off via the Nations League no matter what we do in Euro Qualifiers? #Euro2020draw #COYBIG @YouBoysInGreen pic.twitter.com/UQBFUfg7Ws

Not an easy group but it’s doable under Mccarthy. Won’t be as afraid to go at the Swiss and Denmark. New campaign, new management people can fuck off with the negativity #COYBIG 🇮🇪

Mentally preparing for one of the dullest qualifying groups of all time: Switzerland (hard to beat), Denmark (shoo-in for another pair of 0-0), Ireland (hard to beat), Georgia (hard to beat), and eh, Gibraltar. Could we qualify with six 0-0 draws and two wins? #EURO2020 #coybig

I think Ireland got a very manageable group . It certainly could of been a lot harder . There more than capable of getting points at home off the Swiss & the Danes #Euro2020

Not a bad draw at all Ireland – essentially our Euro 2016 qualifying group in that we revisit GIB and GEO only instead of SCO, POL and GER we have the Swiss and the Danes. WC2018 we drew GEO from pot 6 – this time from pot4 – quality of draw is relative to teams in pot! #euro2020
