The 22-year-old has impressed for Brentford this season, with the Frenchman netting 15 Championship goals.
And according to The Sun, Villa boss Dean Smith is ready to move for his former striker this month.
They say Maupay is seen as a replacement for Villa Park goal machine Abraham.
The striker, who is on loan from Chelsea, is set to join Wolves before the end of the month in an £18m deal.
Wolves are willing to pay Abraham £120,000-a-week to quit Villa Park for Molineux.
Former Brentford boss Smith signed Maupay from Saint-Etienne in 2017 for just £2m.
The Sun add that Villa will have to pay around £6m for the Frenchman if they are to persuade the Bees to sell in January.
Thomas Frank has been vocal on Maupay’s future, with the Brentford boss revealing he’s desperate to keep his hitman in west London.
He said: “We hope he stays here for a long, long time.
“But with good players, we never ever know what happens with them.”
The Sun add that Villa are also set to sign Wolves defender Kortney Hause this month.
The 23-year-old centre-back will join the Villans after having a bid accepted.
Villa and Hause will now negotiated personal terms and arrange a medical.
Smith’s Villa are back in action on Saturday afternoon against Wigan in the Championship.
A win for the Villa could send them up to seventh, one spot off the playoffs.
