Real Madrid ‘prepare’ Jose Mourinho arrival with assistant manager decision

Real Madrid are making plans to welcome Jose Mourinho back to the club, according to fresh reports in Spain.

The Manchester United manager continues to be linked with a potential exit from Old Trafford if the club’s fortunes do not improve, with former club Real Madrid reportedly keen on a reunion.

A new report from Ok Diario suggest the Spanish giants have made plans to welcome the Portuguese coach to the club at the end of the season.

The Spanish outlet suggests Real Madrid have lined up Xabi Alonso to be Mourinho’s assistant should he leave United in the coming months.

Mourinho coached Alonso during his previous spell at the Santiago Bernabeu and it is suggested the two would be open to working together in a managerial capacity.

Santiago Solari is currently in charge of Real Madrid but it is reported club president Florentino Perez ‘does not want Solari (to remain manager) unless he wins the European Cup.’

According to the report Real Madrid want to finish the current turbulent season and then start fresh with Mourinho ‘in command accompanied by the always correct Xabi Alonso.’

In terms of other transfer news, Inter Milan and Fulham are both reportedly interested in a move for Matteo Darmian.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Inter could try to sign the Italy international next year, while Tuttomercato suggest Fulham are also keen on the 29-year-old.

Despite contrasting reports both stories suggest the player himself would prefer to return to Italy should he leave United.
