LIVERPOOL 0-0 FULHAM

18: Fulham are starting to unravel as Liverpool turn up the heat! Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah exchange a wonderful, intricate series of passes before the Egyptian sees a shot blocked by Sergio Rico.

15: Xherdan Shaqiri creates an opening on goal and fires with real power from distance – just wide of the target. I think Sergio Rico got a touch on that. Should have been a corner.

13: Sadio Mane skips past two or three challenges before slicing the Fulham defence open with a pass that’s got a little too much mustard on. Sergio Rico is out quickly to collect.

10: This still feels sluggish. Mitrovic looks to raise the tempo with a battling run forward and earns his side a corner. The delivery is sinfully poor and fails to beat the first defender. Andre Schurrle the culprit.

8: Sadio Mane steals the ball off a dithering Christie and pops the ball over to Xherdan Shaqiri. He lays it wide for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who blazes over from an acute angle.

5: Golden opportunity for Liverpool goes begging as Sadio Mane profits from some poor defending at the far post. The ball falls to the unmarked winger, who completely shanks it wide of the target from roughly eight-yards away.

3: Slow and ponderous start at Anfield. It always happens in this weird midday time slot. Fulham have probably been the brighter of the two sides with Mitrovic nutmegging Van Dijk.

LIVERPOOL 0-0 FULHAM

1: OK, we’re underway at Anfield. Score predictions? There’s a hardcore Fulham supporter in the office who is convinced his side will keep a clean sheet today.

His logic? Well, they’ve lost 5-1, 4-2, 3-0, 2-0, 1-0… so he believes the pattern will see Liverpool draw a blank today.

It’s certainly a theory…

Lest we forget

11:59: There will be a minute’s silence as we honour the 100th anniversary of World War One Armistice Day.

Bouncebackability

11:55: Iain Dowie coined the word bouncebackability in the 2003-04 season – and I’m more than a regular user of the term. It’s in the dictionary!

Anyway, Jurgen Klopp claims his side have a “wonderful perspective” as they look to bounce back from their Champions League upset in midweek.

“We have a wonderful perspective, it’s all good. We had a bad game, we can’t ignore that, but we have the confidence from the games before,” Klopp said. “After Naples we played City, didn’t we? That was a good game and the reaction was right. We don’t want to lose football games, you always have to show a reaction, that’s clear.

“I’m not in doubt about the reaction. We have 27 points (in the Premier League), conceded five goals, done a lot of good things. It’s a very positive situation and if we had been in the same situation two years ago, people would have said it’s brilliant.

“It’s no problem that people compare, but for us, it’s important we don’t do it.”

‘I want to find brave people’

11:50: Head coach Slavisa Jokanovic wants his players to stand up and be counted: “In the last game we chose a really ugly way to lose. You must fight until the last moment, you must give extra effort. We didn’t show the effort and we must now wake up.

“My mentality is always the same. I want to find brave people around me. We must move out of our comfort zone, push harder and be more competitive. After a tough two-and-a-half years in the Championship, we cannot give up now. We must show ambition and pride.”

Twitter round-up

Kolo: I hope there’s a goal for the birthday boy, Georginio Wijnaldum somewhere in today’s match!

Nicolas: Aside from the obvious improvement in performance required today, slick movement, “head up” from Salah and creativity should be the main aims. The goals will flow if we do that.

Same: Another week, another experiment for Jokanovic. Wasn’t expecting to see Chambers in a Fulham shirt again – a huge opportunity for a load of these players to cement their places in the First XI with anything close to a solid performance…

History

11:45: Fulham have won just one of their 33 away games against Liverpool in all competitions, drawing nine and losing 23.

But you know what they say about lucky number 34…

‘We have to be creative’

11:40: Reds boss Jurgen Klopp speaking with Liverpool’s official website: “We have to be creative; you always have to be creative in football. You have to always be patient but in a lively way – play around and play through the lines. That’s the same importance.

“They have two quick wingers and a very physical and a very quick striker. It’s an interesting line-up. We have to react now, we have to learn from the game in the game, then use what we see, use what we’re working for and try to get through and score goals.”

On the inclusion of Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita on the bench, Klopp added: “They are ready, of course, but somebody from the Premier League told me I can only line up 11 and I thought we should accept this rule, so that’s why we line up like this.”

Dominic Solanke…

11:35: Oh, I have a transfer rumour for you if you don’t mind. Forget the countdown to Christmas – there’s just 51 days until the transfer window opens!

Here’s the report from our reporter Alex Wood.

Jurgen Klopp looks ready to let Dominic Solanke leave Anfield – but only if Divock Origi is not sold.

Crystal Palace and West Ham are both sniffing around as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Origi could offer Solanke a Liverpool lifeline though. If the Belgium international is sold, Solanke will stay put.

Parklife…

11:30: I just stumbled across this on Twitter and It’s an absolute belter.

Referee Simon Hooper disallowed a Charlie Austin goal for offside during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Watford.

Striker Austin branded the decision “a joke” during a passionate post-match interview.

And It didn’t take the internet long to react with someone laying his comments over Blur’s song Parklife. Enjoy!

Come on… do something…

11:25: Slavisa Jokanovic has accused his Fulham players of lacking fight and effort.

Always the best way to provoke a reaction, right?

Anyway, Jokanovic remains under intense pressure after their worst result of a disappointing start to 2018/19 came in Monday’s 1-0 defeat by Huddersfield, since when club coach Scott Parker has been linked with his position.

While Jokanovic dismissed those reports as “speculation” he recognises his team need to vastly improve if they are to survive, unexpectedly criticising them and demanding they do not throw away in a matter of months the Premier League status that took years to secure.

“We chose an ugly way to lose the game,” he said. “You must be proud, competitive and fight at the last moment and make extra effort.

“We are right now not showing this quality or effort, we must wake up and when we lose the game we must know how we lost it; we cannot sell our skin so cheap.

“A few times before games I say my team is ready for the fight, but are not showing effort or ambition and we must change this. We must accept this situation and go outside our comfort zone, because this didn’t bring us a good result. We must shake our hands, push harder; I don’t believe this is impossible.”

Team news – Liverpool

11:20: Jurgen Klopp sees Slavisa Jokanovic’s three changes, and raises him another. The Reds boss makes four changes in total from Tuesday’s hock defeat to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri come into midfield with James Milner and Daniel Sturridge dropping to the bench, alongside Jordan Henderson.

There’s no space in the squad for Adam Lallana and Joel Matip – who are absent today.

Joe Gomez returns alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back. Roberto Firmino leads the line.

Team news – Fulham

11:15: Slavisa Jokanovic just can’t help himself. The under-pressure manager has made three changes to that disappointing 1-0 loss to Huddersfield.

Cyrus Christie, Alfie Mawson and Calum Chambers replace Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Jean Michael Seri and Luciano Vietto.

Thommo: Right then onto Matchday…Come on Reds let’s get stuck in from the off and hopefully a couple of goals today too!

Warley: Hendo and Keita in the bench made me happy. Our midfield was joke in recent times. Hope it will improve.

Abhishek: Surprised to see Fabinho start and Keita on the bench. Henderson must not be a 100% fit to start. Birthday start for Wijnaldum. I hope he scores. Good to see Shaqiri playing behind the front three.

What’s on?

11:05: The Premier League are treating us with four crackers this afternoon – by way of an apology for yet another international break I reckon.

Immediately after Liverpool’s clash, we’ve got Chelsea vs Everton from Stamford Bridge. It’s one of those rare games where quite a few Reds will be rooting for their Toffee rivals.

We finish off with Arsenal welcoming Wolves to the Emirates Stadium, and the small matter of a Manchester derby with Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho going to-to-toe once again.

Juicy.

Lest we forget

10:59: Before the line-ups are revealed there will be a national silence as we honour the 100th anniversary of World War One Armistice Day.

Twitter round-up

Ashley: Somehow we need to get Naby Keita up for this season. The link from midfield to our front three has been absolutely poor.

Graham: Jurgen Klopp suggesting he expects a reaction from his squad today and a return to winning ways! Boy I hope so, we have been playing the same game for about four weeks now, regressing and becoming slow, lateral and predictable! Let’s get at Fulham!

Tommy: Well today is our biggest test. I know we should comfortably get a win but after that horror show in midweek, it will be nice to see the lads reaction.

Leak?

10:53: So the rumours doing the rounds are that Xherdan Shaqiri will start today’s match alongside Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

That’s from a particularly potent ITK account on Twitter that shall remain nameless. Wouldn’t want to rumble whoever runs it!

Morning…

10:50: Hello everyone, welcome to our LIVE coverage of Liverpool vs Fulham from a cloudy Anfield.

Beware the backlash? That’s the question I’ve been asking myself ahead of this fixture.

The Reds have made their finest ever start to a Premier League season – with eight wins and three draws in their opening 11 fixtures – but have lost both of their matches away from home in the Champions League.

I would say Liverpool could be vulnerable, but today’s opposition Fulham are crazily low on confidence having shipped 29 goals in 11 games.

They have taken one point from their last 18 Premier League matches against the established top six sides.

Can Fulham do what Tony Bellew couldn’t and make a mockery of their 30/1 odds? We’re about to find out!

LIVERPOOL vs FULHAM

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and fellow midfielder Naby Keita are both available.

The pair have been sidelined for a number of weeks due to hamstring injuries but will be included in the squad alongside defender Joe Gomez, who has been struggling with an Achilles issue recently.

Xherdan Shaqiri will also come into contention having been left at home for the Champions League trip to Red Star Belgrade in an attempt to reduce local hostilities.

Fulham are expected to be without Kevin McDonald and Joe Bryan, who are both struggling with hamstring injuries and likely to miss out. Cottagers boss Slavisa Jokanovic is expected to make further changes to his team following their disappointing defeat at Huddersfield on Monday.

Last five league matches: Liverpool D D W W D; Fulham L L L L L

Top scorers (all competitions): Sadio Mane & Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 7; Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) 5
