XHERDAN SHAQIRI sees England as serious Euro 2020 challengers.
The Liverpool and Switzerland forward is impressed by the Three Lions’ improvement — even though Tuesday’s 1-0 win over his Swiss ended a run of three defeats.
Both the semi-finals and finals of Euro 2020 will be at Wembley.
Shaqiri, 26, said: “England are one of the favourites always but they will be big, big favourites in Euro 2020.
“They have changed their football. They try to play from the back now.”
Although Gareth Southgate’s side clinched victory over the Swiss at Leicester, they struggled in defence at times.
And the Reds ace added: “Maybe it was not their best day in terms of the way they played out from the back.
“Maybe they made a few mistakes but they’ve got a lot of young players and the future is bright.
“They don’t have as much experience as before. They are much, much younger now — but they are top players.”
Former Stoke star Shaqiri will play at Wembley with Liverpool this Saturday in a crunch clash against Tottenham.
And he feels he is handling the step up well.
He said: “It’s a big change, Stoke to Liverpool. Liverpool are a big, big team.
“But I know how to be at a big team as I played at Bayern Munich and at Inter Milan.”
