SWEDEN are into the World Cup quarter-finals after a tense last-16 victory over Switzerland – and will now face England.
Back for their first tournament since 2006, the Swedes have been superb and have reached this stage for the first time in 24 years.
What has been the results between England vs Sweden?
ENGLAND have beaten Colombia on penalties and will now meet Sweden in the last-eight.
But in this match-up, history is not on the side of Gareth Southgate’s men.
In competitive games, England have a poor record, winning just one of the last eight meetings.
Their last meeting at a major tournament was Euro 2012, where the Three Lions won a gripping encounter 3-2 thanks to goals from Andy Carroll, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck.
At World Cups, the sides have met twice – and both have ended in stalemate.
In the 2002 tournament Sol Campbell’s goal was cancelled out in a 1-1 draw by Jens Alexandersson.
And four years later in Germany, the teams drew 2-2 when the England scorers were Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard.
The last meeting was a 2012 friendly, famous for an outrageous Zlatan Ibrahimovic overhead kick from 35 yards.

Is Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing for them at the World Cup?
PROLIFIC Swede forward Ibrahimovic is now playing his football Stateside for the LA Galaxy.
Following Euro 2016 he hung up his international boots after 62 goals in 116 games.
There were rumours that he would come out of retirement for the World Cup, but the man himself put them to bed before the tournament and will instead watch from the sidelines.
